One of my biggest roles as educator is to encourage students to begin to think critically about issues around them and beyond their comfort zone.  6th graders are developmentally just beginning to be able to reason abstractly and beyond the concrete. ...

I tend to lean towards the "constructivist method" in that I believe that allowing kids to immerse themsleves in learning opportunities by experienceing them is far more powerful than just memorizing and regurgitating important concepts. ...

Dr. Seuss was a genius!  He understood that at some point, success comes not when you've been handed everything you need in order to succeed, but rather when you USE what you've been given.  It's difficult for 6th graders to take personal...
