Mrs. Harkins is a graduate of Western Washington University with a BA in Special Education; she also received an MA in Educational Technology City University, and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction University of Washington.
Mrs. Harkins is a proud product of the Lake Washington School District, "I was born and raised in Kirkland and graduated from Lake Washington High School. My parents still live in the same house I grew up in on Rose Hill. I have one younger brother, Marshal who is married to the lovely Noelle. I have two cats, Abby and Bob (both girls!). My own family grew this August when I married Mike, the man of my dreams!!!"
The schools that have benefited from Mrs. Harkins's expertise include Horace Mann Elementary, Special Education; John Muir Elementary, Special Education; Mark Twain Elementary, Special Education; Ben Franklin Elementary, Special Education; Margaret Mead Elementary - Special Education; 5th Grade; 5/6.
Outside of her teaching career Mrs. Harkins enjoys hiking, 4-wheeling, water skiing, snowboarding, reading, quilting, and watching movies.
When asked about coming to Rosa Parks Elementary Mrs. Harkins says, "I am most excited about being a part of a cutting edge program, working with Mr. Newport again, and being part of a really great group of people."
