Students as Well Educated as Any in the World
Ms. Hiles comes from a large family, and she has a single son, Nathan, who is 29 years old, and Mom says, "quite handsomeJ, fun-loving and very athletic." She is also the "on-duty Mom" for her nephew and niece and their spouses. Their mom, Ms. Hiles' sister, lives in San Salvador. "We enjoy our weekly family night of good food, fun and games."
Ms. Hiles began teaching secondary PE and Health at Holy Names Academy - "mannnnny years ago." She moved to Bellevue and taught US/World History for several years, until Nathan was born. She returned to teaching history at Renton High School until Nathan's health required that we move to an arid climate - Las Cruces, New Mexico. "I owned a preschool and kindergarten in New Mexico for 10 years. When my son's health improved, we returned to Washington and I taught a first/second/third grade multi-age, team taught class for the next ten years." She has been teaching first and second grade in the Quest Program in LWSD for the last five years. It was time for a new challenge so Ms. Hiles has moved to the 3/4 Quest here at Rosa Parks.
Ms. Hiles stays active outside of school, "I love all sports and still play a few. I read, do Sudoku, knit, garden, travel, work out at the gym and enjoy my family."
"Opening a new school is always a thrilling adventure - one I am looking forward to very much. I am excited to meet my new colleagues, and my Quest students and families. The challenge of two new curriculums will keep me as busy I as want."
