Star of the Week Information (see below for schedule)

What is it?
This is a way for your child to let others know more about themselves and have a chance to speak in front of the class. We suggest you have them practice what they're going to say to the class about each item that they choose to share. Preparing for the activities will take some time, so please plan ahead with your child. If an activity cannot be done on the suggested day, they may do it on any other day during their week. If you are unable to come in on Friday, but would still like to share something about your job or family, please contact me to arrange a different day. Below is a suggested schedule for you and your child to follow in planning for their special week:

Monday - Sharing photographs with the class.
Please send in a photograph, a drawn picture, or a picture from a magazine for each of the following categories: 1) My Family, 2) My Pets, 3) My Friends, 4) My Favorite Book, 5) My Favorite Thing to Do, 6) My Favorite Food, and 7) My Hobbies.  Have your child practice saying one or two sentences about each picture.  We'll display them for the week and return them on Friday or the following Monday.  I promise not to staple or put holes in your pictures.  Any one-of-a-kind or framed photos should remain at home to be treasured.

Tuesday - Sharing a favorite item or skill.
Assist your child into choosing something that is most special to them. Some examples could be a special collection, a favorite educational game or toy, an outfit they wear for a special class (e.g. Tae Kwon Do/dance outfit). Please keep toys that contain weapons (guns, knives, axes) at home.

Wednesday –  Share a favorite book/video.
The book or video needs to be something that can be viewed or read in a 30 minute time frame. I'd be happy to read the book to the class or a family member may come in to share the story with the class. If a video is chosen, it must be G rated and contain a positive/educational theme. If you have any questions regarding a video, don't hesitate to contact me.

THURSDAY - "Lunch with a Friend" day.
Your child will be able to invite a friend from the other all-day kindergarten or any first grade classroom to join them for lunch! If the guest will be from another class, I'll arrange the lunch date with the other teacher. Parents, grandparents, and siblings make great guests, too!

Friday - Share your family!
Family member are invited in to share something about their job or a special family hobby with our class.  Please plan on being in our room by 11:35.  You will have 10-15 minutes of sharing time with the children.  You may also plan on staying for lunch. . what a GREAT way to close out your child’s special week!

I look forward to learning about your child during their special week!
