Second grade is a year where your child will experience many new, exciting things.  Each week your child will get their new homework packet.  The first page of the packet is to be returned on Friday. 

Since every child is different, I try to give your child homework that is appropriate to their level and according to how much time it takes them to complete it.  Homework in second grade should only last 30-45 minutes a night.  Therefore, there will be four levels of homework.  You know your child better then anyone else, therefore, I would like you to choose how much homework you think your child needs. 

Level 1:  Home reading, computation practice and spelling only. 

Level 2:  Consists of home reading, computation practice and spelling, a math page and one language arts page.

Level 3:  Consists of home reading, computation practice and spelling, a math page and one language arts page, and writing.

Level 4:  Project based homework (also home reading, computation and spelling)

 Every Monday the homework packet is sent home.  On Friday students are to return the top form sign by their parent. 

***  Please Keep in Mind

1.       Homework packets are given out on Monday and checked off on Friday.  I consider your child’s homework for the week as complete if they practice their reading (20-30 min.), computation (10-15 min.) and spelling (5-10 min.).
